9 Sig Calculator
Log each quarter's closing prices and the calculator works out the signal line, the trade, your holdings, and how the plan is doing. It follows the rules on the 9 Sig page, and runs 3 Sig and 6 Sig too. Everything stays in this browser; export it to Excel at any time.

Import and export
Your plans are saved in this browser only. Clearing your browser data, or using a private window, loses them, so download a backup now and then. Files you import are read in this browser and never uploaded.
Import takes this calculator's own files (backup, Excel or CSV) or your own spreadsheet as .xlsx or .csv, including the community 9-SIG Google Sheet (File, Download, Microsoft Excel). Only the inputs are read: dates, prices, actions, fill prices and income. Everything else is recalculated.
How it works
- Signal line: last quarter's stock balance × (1 + the target), plus half of this quarter's new cash. Above the line, sell the surplus into bonds; below it, buy the shortfall from bonds.
- Bond reserve: a buy uses at most 90% of the bond balance (with the 10% setting), plus any spare cash. A buy cut short is counted as a bond shortage.
- 30 Down: when the stock closes a quarter at least 30% below its highest quarterly close of the past two years, the next two sell signals are skipped (Hold), and the third resets the plan to its base split. The rule lapses after two years.
- Spike Reset: after a quarter in which the stock gained 100% or more, with 30 Down off, if the stock would still be 60% to 100% of the plan after the normal trade, the plan resets to its base split.
- Your choice wins. The action is a suggestion; pick another and the calculator follows what you actually did.
- Rounding: stock shares are fractional; bond trades are whole shares, with the remainder kept as cash.
- Annualized return compares today's total with everything you've put in, over the whole period. Money added late counts for the full period, so with large contributions it reads lower than your true rate; treat it as a rough guide.
